Soon after Head Underwater is done I will start editing on another video I shot for another video off their upcoming album, Devil Son. Both shoots went well and I know people are going to like the videos. More details soon.
In the next few weeks I will be finishing up my edit of Greeley Estates' new video for their song "Head Underwater" off the album The Narrow Road. I will be posting updates soon but for now I'm about halfway through editing and once it's done they will be setting up the online premier, as soon as I know I will update when and where that will be. The video is extremely fast and intense and I'm really proud of it, I can't wait to see what people think.

As I type this post I am above Louisville, KY on my way to Phoenix where I will be shooting three new videos for the band Greeley Estates. I am extremely excited to be working with them and am ready to make some amazing videos this week. Expect to see plenty of photos along the way here on my blog, on my Instagram and Twitter @jonreino and on Greeley Estates' Instagram @greeleyestates.
It's 2013 and after two years of the old design it was time for a change. The new site is simpler, less cluttered, and much more interactive. 2012 was a huge year for me, I had over a dozen screenings at film festivals all over the country and soon will be announcing some really big things. With the new site I can also post more frequently, people can leave comments, and you can even like posts on Facebook or share them on Twitter. I'm looking forward to the new year, and I hope everyone likes the new site!
Five Official Selections and One Festival Win, The Tattoo Life has exceeded my expectations and continues to grow. In two weeks we are screening at the New Hope Film Festival. I knew from the start of production that this is where I wanted to screen if nowhere else, and now it’s finally happening. Then in August, it’ll be screening right in the center of Times Square in a free to the public screening as part of the New York City International Film Festival. Not to mention winning Best Documentary at the Flamingo Film Festival in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in May, this has been a ridiculous year. It’s unbelievable to be given all of these amazing opportunities. Now I am both continuing to push Tattoo Life and beginning pre-production on a new short film. I’m still debating what the title of this one will be so I don’t want to post much about this one yet, but it should be completed early 2013 and I can’t wait to see the finished product. As for Tattoo Life, we are continuing to screen in the outdoor screenings of the Artist Visions Film Festival in Lambertville, New Jersey, which is free to the public and outdoors every first and second friday, June, July, and August. Of course, there are the two HUGE festivals I mentioned, as well as a number of public screenings in the works all over New Jersey, keep an eye out for screenings in Frenchtown, Lebanon Borough, Millburn, and Princeton, but dates and locations will be announced soon. I hope everyone enjoys the screenings, and if you are reading this and are free on July 14, come to New Hope and vote for us for Audience Choice! As hinted in my post “Make Haste, Not Waste” I have been working on something new, and now after almost six months of production I can finally present “The Tattoo Life: The Rich Cahill Documentary”. This 24 minute documentary focuses on tattoo artist and renaissance man, Rich Cahill. Our goal from the very start was to make a true portrayal of an artist and not the commercialized reality TV drama that people have become all too accustomed to. So far the film is receiving a very positive response. Pictures from the January 8th premier will be posted soon. Below is the 7 minute online preview of the film, check it out, tell your friends, rate it on IMDb, go to Rich’s Page, and post it to your own pages. ENJOY! It’s bittersweet for me to say that last night was Downward’s last festival screening for the foreseeable future. It’s been a blast and the response has been fantastic, and I’m not saying I won’t try to put it out there a little bit more if I have the opportunity, but it’s been almost a year since it premiered and I feel like it’s time to move it into the next stage of it’s life. After leaving my promotional materials and talking to people for a while I spent some time in the streets of Cape May taking photos and enjoying the environment. I took almost 200 pictures, and the best of them will be on jonreinophotography.tumblr.com soon. It’s a beautiful town with a lot of character, and this time of year it’s quiet yet still active which was perfect. Once my parents came down we grabbed dinner at a place called the Ugly Mug and had the best burger of my life. Whoever thought of a cheeseburger with a crab cake on top is a genius and I want to meet them. Then we went back to the Chalfonte hotel for a dolly rig presentation with some fantastic rigs and I showed of my DIY slider dolly and shoulder rig. Then we watched the screening of The Redemption of General Butt Naked which was a fantastic documentary which won best cinematography at Sundance this year, about a Liberian rebel general from the civil wars of the mid to late 90’s who is trying to redeem himself of his actions. It was unbelievable and the Executive Producer and Cinematographer were there. They were knowledgeable and fantastic filmmakers, it was great to talk to them. Then at about 10:30 Downward screened during the “Edgy Shorts” selection in the Henry Sawyer room. It’s a smaller room but as you can see in the picture at the top it was a pretty full room. The response was fantastic and people seemed to really enjoy the film and the freebies I brought for everyone. Four people asked me to sign the posters, that’s just awesome. I hope to be back there next year with at least one of my new projects. It was a blast and I can’t wait to start another festival run with some of my new projects, as well as Closure with Alfred Marroquin. Recently I have gone through a frustrating null of film work. Whether it be things I wasn’t particularly interested in or projects plagued for many reasons this summer has been somewhat of an upset. After Downward premieres at the New Jersey International Film Festival to very positive reviews I began plotting my next move, I thought I had found just the project I needed but it was delayed for a month just two days before our original start date, then had fallen through within a week of production. But of course I’m on to the next project. I’m going a little out of my element and doing a documentary but I promised I wouldn’t share too many details until closer to it’s completion. I’ve shot for Dennis Connors for his upcoming documentary, but it’s been three years since I directed my own documentary, and I will be shooting and editing this one as well as producing. It’s coming together well and I’m excited to see the final product. It’s also a possibility that Downward will be available online for purchase in the near future. When I say purchase I mean somewhere in the range of $2-3 for an Amazon digital download. It’s a possibility, but I do promise that it will be available to the public online in one way or another very soon. It’s official, DOWNWARD is an Official Selection for the 2011 New Jersey International Film Festival being held this June. It feels like forever away but it’s such a huge relief to know my film was accepted. Sorry I’m a little late posting the news here, I got the call at 10 am on Friday April 8th, and my family and everyone on facebook had to know immediately. It’s playing second to last on the closing night and I will be there to introduce it. This is my first festival experience and excited wouldn’t even come close to describing how I feel about this. I also hate to say but the documentary I mentioned in my last post is now defunct. It was a medical documentary that I felt very passionate about but I hit some road blocks and I did not want to make the film with the limitations I was given. I would rather not make a great film than make a bad film, but thanks to bureaucracy those were the choices I was left with. Since I last posted I’ve been really busy with a number of projects. I just finished shooting about 80% of Gem Aludino’s new film Conscience In Transit. It’s a film about a college student adjusting to his new environment, the stress of a long distance relationship with his high school sweetheart, and the guilt of his new potential mistress. We shot 16mm for most of it and digital for low light or locations we may or may not have had permission to film at. We shot digital with the Canon 5D and film with the Aaton LTR using Kodak Vision 3 stock, 250D and 500T. As I type the telecine transfer is waiting to be picked up at PostWorks in New York City, but I have a Clutch concert to go to later so reviewing footage will have to wait... Last night I also shot for Dennis Connors for his new documentary on composer Diane Mosser, it was a great show and a lot of fun. You can check out his previous documentary, Breaking Boundaries; The Art Of Alex Masket”, here. I am also starting work on a documentary that I will be directing and producing, but I need to keep that on the down low until all the paperwork is done and I get funding. |
