A Casualty

It’s been a busy few weeks for me, lot of projects and such. I have been going through the whole festival submission ordeal for Downward and trying to find the Devil so I can sign some contracts but he’s a hard man to reach so for now I’m just waiting for responses. But in the mean time I’m still keeping busy.

The other project I have been working on is Casualties Of Culture with Writer/Director Anthony Salerno and Producer Mike Slammer. We started our first set of shoot dates on January 2nd in Lake George. The sunrise you see above was at one of our filming locations, it was quite beautiful, and not 30 minutes after this picture was taken we were on our 5 and a half hour way home to shoot another scene, we just finished before the sun went down. Overall it has been an amazing experience, I can’t wait to get shooting and finish the movie. Check out the quick teaser trailer at theCasualties Of Culture Website and check the Casualties Of Culture Tumblr for updates and behind the scenes goodness.

    Enjoy.

It’s been more than a solid month since I updated my page, I’m really slacking... anyway. Last time I posted I was just starting to shoot my new film Downward. Well, IT’S DONE! Kind of... I’m still doing some tiny tweaks here and there but it premiered on the 16th at the Montclair Student Film Festival and so far the response has been great and I’m glad a lot of people like it so far. I want to thank my DP Hari Kapoor for some great shootin’, my assistant directors Anastasia Baker, Eric Unverzagt, and my AD for the limbo scene, Marrisa Grace. Also my sound crew Jenna Leung, David “Cherry” Caceres, and my post-producion audio assistant Jess Sims. And of course the limbo scene could not have been done without my grips Marrisa Grace, Brett Davis, Nicholas Hunt, Jenna Leung, and Eric S. Thanks you guys, now no more ass-kissing...

There were laughs, there were tears, there were more delays than I would like to remember, but I bid fair well to Downward. My next project is called Casualties Of Culture, it is an intense social commentary written and directed by Anthony Salerno and I am going to be Director Of Photography for the film, and my Downward partner in crime, Marrisa Grace, is also tagged on as Assistant Director. I can not talk about it too much, but we begin shooting on January 2nd. For more info on the project go to the Tumblr.

As of right now I am home sick, so I am going to go make myself some soup and sit for a while. Check out the teaser for Downward under the FILMS tab at the top of the page, new trailer coming soon. Hope all of you enjoy the holidays.

I Destroy

This past week I shot Anastasia Baker’s new film, Destroy. It wasn’t the first time I shot with the Canon T2i, but it was the first time i used it for a whole film. We shot on the 11th, 12th, and 14th, in Hackensack and Tenafly, NJ. It was the first documented use of the now infamous “penny-rig”. The screw from the Varizoom shoulder mount wouldn’t fit on the T2i so we used a penny on each side of the base plate to add distance so the screw would be tighter sooner. Ghetto indeed. We also managed to rig a 4-bank KinoFlo light on the Fisher Dolly. I literally left to go get a cleaning cloth two blocks away, came back, and one of the grips, Joe, had rigged it together with a gobo head and some gaff tape. That was in the beginning of what would be a near 20-hour day. Gotta love filmmaking...

Today is the first day of shooting for my new film, Downward, staring Alex Hernandez and Morgan Vasquez. It’ll be a quick night tonight but tomorrow is going to be stressful. I’m hoping that once it’s done I can throw it in a quick festival circuit and then post it up on the site once it’s had it’s rounds.

For now I’m sipping tea in the video room in my high school, and the cup o noodles I have in my bag is calling my name.

*UPDATE*

I’m finally back at the apartment. Everything went well and my actors and crew were great. I’ll post pictures up soon but for now I need some sleep, 11AM start tomorrow... or, well, today.

Welcome to my website, hope it’s not too lame. I’m trying to add as many clips and photos as I can so it’s a bit more interesting for you guys. In the mean time this site might get a little neglected courtesy of Montclair State loading me with way too much work. Well, anyway, thanks for stopping by. Its off the edit I go...
